What you'll do
Run Mentors are the backbone of RBO — anyone who wants to give back by helping Oakland students train for local races. No running background required, just consistency and care.
Background Check & Training
Run Mentors, including coaches, are required to complete a background check once per year. The cost to complete the background check is $20. This cost is never meant to be a barrier — contact RBO if you need financial assistance. Run Mentors are also required to complete a free Sexual Abuse Awareness and Reporting Training every year.
Help Keep our Students safe & supported – Become a Safety Monitor!
We're looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as Safety Monitors for RBO. You don't need to be a runner — just someone who cares about community and safety.
As a Safety Monitor, you'll be stationed along the running route to cheer students on, help guide them, and help keep practices safe. It's a simple role, but an essential one. You're not required to attend every practice — just come when you can.
